Silverthorne, Colorado
Silverthorne - is located off I-70 and is known for shopping and fly fishing! Enjoy the outlet mall, large recreation center, park, national forest information, and many good dining options. The blue river runs right through town and fly-fishing is very popular. This town is very popular as a central location to all the resorts in the county.
As you head north out of Silverthorne on highway 6, you will see golfing on your left. The challenging Raven golf course that overlooks mountains and valleys and the blue river on the right. The scenery is very pleasant as you enter a large mountain valley. For miles, you'll see the cottonwood trees surrounding the banks of the Blue river and lots of farm land and ranching land with wild sage growing everywhere. There is a huge variety of housing and affordable housing in Silverthorne.
You will approach the town of Heeney and Heeney is the entrance to the Green Mountain Reservior. There is a beautiful hiking area just to the west of Heeney called Cataract Lake Loop (Lower).
This is a very beautiful lake that is an easy hike around. You will see wetlands, high alpine forest and waterfalls. Back in Heeney you will see the Green Mountain Reservoir. This is a popular recreation area that you can enjoy boating, camping and fishing.
Continue north and you will arrive at Steamboat Springs. This is another popular area for skiing.
