Hiking in the mountains
Hiking in Summit county offers something for everyone. Visit alpine lakes, blue spruce forests, and wildflower valleys. I've linked to the Summit County Explorer for 37 hikes. Also, don't miss Breckenridge's interpretive hike, which explores preserved mining history. The town of Breckenridge also has trails right in town so you don't have to go far to get into the woods. There is also a national forest ranger office in Silverthorne, with hiking information on the White River National Forest.
Many people hike with their dogs, family members and attempt to climb the 14'ers in the area. 14'ers are mountains that exceed an elevation of 14,000 feet. There are several mountain peaks that you can do this at. The key is to start early in the morning and attempt to complete your journey towards the sky by noon. Summer months are the most popular for hikers although people make these climbs year around.

When you are done hiking, wouldn't it be nice to return to your mountain home and relax? I can help you find a Breckenridge ski home for your family's enjoyment.
